Judensand. UNESCO World Heritage Site

Judensand in Mainz is the largest medieval Jewish cemetery north of the Alps and is regarded as the cradle of Ashkenazi burial culture in Europe.
Since 2021, it has formed part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the ShUM cities.
During the visit, we enter the area open to visitors and explore its history, as well as the important role the cemetery played for the ShUM communities and for later Ashkenazi cemeteries.
